Drug Trafficking Defendant Hires Allen Sawyer:
A California man who was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess (including intent to distribute) drugs as part of an international operation that took place in Sacramento, Davis, and Roseville and extending into Canada has retained as his federal criminal defense attorney Allen Sawyer. Amandeep Multani, 33, who was indicted on two counts of international drug trafficking along with two other U.S. citizens, will be represented by Sawyer in the case to be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer.
According to a criminal complaint filed on April 7 in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, Multani, along with Parampreet Singh, 55, of Davis, and Ranvir Singh, 38, of Sacramento, allegedly organized several drug deals with a Canadian undercover officer involving multiple kilograms of cocaine, heroin, opium, and ketamine between October 2020 and March 2021. The case resulted from a drug trafficking investigation that began in August 2020 and involved the DEA, FBI, and Homeland Security Investigations as well as Canada’s York Regional Police, the Placer County Special Investigations Unit, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. According to the complaint, in addition to the United States and Canada, the defendants’ connections are also believed to extend to Germany, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Mexico.
“I’m looking forward to helping Mr. Multani in his defense,” said Sawyer. “My firm is seasoned in defending high-profile cases involving complex legal matters, and I’m prepared to give my client the level of defense he needs and deserves.”
